How We'll Get There...
A few weeks ago I wrote about Where we’re headed… in case you don't recall, it's a good place, a place of Love and Connection and Wholeness. Flourishing Ecosystems and Human Societies that, while not without strife and challenges, are meeting the call of Peace. True Peace, the kind that embraces conflict as integral to wholeness and growth and yet strives to minimize harm as it resolves conflict.
The road from here to there may be long. Like, vastly long. But given how bonkers it is that we humans have come as far as we have, it seems in the realm of possibility. Remember when we thought the Earth was flat and the Center of the Universe? Remember when...
So how are we going to get there?
Step by mother loving step.
We're not going to get there scrolling on our phones... though we may find that the communication that's possible through phones is helpful.
We're not going to get there by blaming others... though we may find that when we look at the pain driving the impulse to blame we discover a treasure trove.
We're not going to get there by avoiding our grief... though we may find we need each other to go into it.
We're not going to get there by skipping gratitude and celebration... and we may find that it's really awesome and fun to get together and party even as the world seems to be crumbling... that we feed a little light somewhere in our hearts.
So how are we going to get there?
One repaired rupture at a time.
One potluck at a time.
Once Dance Party at a time.
One Grieving Circle at a time.
Don't skim the list... take it in... what's the rush anyway?.
One seed at a time (or maybe one garden's worth of seeds at a time).
One Song at a time.
One Belly Laugh at a time.
One Bath at a time.
One moment spent watching the birds on the bird-feeder at a time.
One good cry at a time.
One Journal Entry at a time.
One Sigh at a time (oof that felt good).
We're going to get there by remembering ourselves (and each other) back into the Present. Back into our Humanity. And back into a cherishing and reverent and playful relationship with life and this emerald planet.
But the truth is we're also not going to get there. Not us in our current lifetimes anyway. Because we're Here.
And Here is where we're supposed to be. Otherwise we would be somewhere else.
We get to pave the way, to become forgotten anonymous ancestors about whom a story is told years and years from now. A story of the human sparks, who in wyrder times of human chaos, wouldn't let the fires of Love fade. Who in times of division and oligarchy, assembled "Power With," like roots of grass. Ancestors who Prayed and Made Art and Told Stories so the next generations wouldn't forget.
So come deeper into yourself and your life. Bring your life force fully into the this one wild and precious life.
And Lets get to it!
And goodness me, enjoy the lilacs!
With Love,
Noah
