The Eagerness of Spring

Enjoying the way the spring is beckoning growth

Hi!

I hope you're enjoying the way the spring is beckoning growth... with warm sun and cold wet rain and snow. There's a lot of change happening out there. It can be hard to digest it all.

I've been trying to find the moments where I can pause and slow things down to make it all feel more manageable.

I've been sitting with questions around urgency and rushing and business. I'm noticing how the buzzy anxiety that arises in my system when I run "the list" through my head actually freezes me up and slows me down.

"There's so much do to, and it all has to get done NOW!"

There's excitement in the "NOW!" Eagerness too. I can't wait to do this and that, it's like I'm a little kid at an amusement park. So much love and passion wanting to be expressed.

But there's also a fear - if it doesn't get done now (or at least very soon), something bad, very bad, is going to happen.

This is an experience I'm still working with. I usually like to share fully processed insights. But here, in my raw humanity, I'm sitting in the realness of an uncomfortable experience... feeling it, feeling curious about it, and working on not trying to control it and not needing to know the answer right away.

As a good friend reminded me the other day, sometimes the medicine is to sit in the tension without rushing towards or trying to force a resolution.

This was a theme in the talk I had the honor of giving this past weekend called "Rebirthing Masculinity: An Embrace of the Wild Feminine" for the Spring Threshold Summit (I'm one of those weirdos who actually enjoys public speaking). It was an awesome experience and deeply meaningful.

One the thing that stands out from that experience was the thirst for this conversation about what healthy masculinity and manhood look like and how we can get there. We planted many seeds and I'm excited to tend to them and see what continues to emerge and grow.

I should be getting a recording of the talk which I'll share. And I'm also reworking it into an essay to share in written form. There's an interesting difference between how we word things to be read as opposed to be heard.

I'm feeling really excited about the work I'm doing here in this territory.

Which of course doesn't detract from the beautiful and wonderful work I do with everyone in my private practice. If anything, it's all intertwined in subtle and meaningful ways.
